Absolute Athletic Therapy Ltd. Internship Salary Position Job Description


Type of Position: Three month temporary part-time

August 15th-November 15th


Job Title: Intern Athletic Therapist


Qualifications:

  • Recently certified CAT(C) 
  • Member in good standing with CATA
  • Current and valid First Responder certification
  • Current and valid BLS/CPR-C certification

Hours of Work: ~25 hours per week 

25 hours will be split between athletic therapy duties and mentorship time


Compensation: $7800 total with 4% vacation payout and 50% clinical commission


Pay Schedule: Biweekly - 1st and 15th of each month

Accountability: reports to Ownership


General Duties;


Mentorship

  • Small group sessions focused on what the intern(s) want to learn
    • Working on both hard and soft skills
    • Clinical skills and field skills
      • Advanced manual therapy
      • High level rehabilitation exercises
      • Canadian C-spine/CT protocols
      • Concussion assessment, identification and treatment tools 
  • Shadow time in the field and clinic with a variety of experienced athletic therapist 
  • Shadow time with a variety of other practitioners including sports medicine physicians
  • Assisting in creating a referral network
    • Introductions to sports medicine physicians and other practitioners
    • Planning session on building a clinical base
  • Potential to travel with selects teams

Athletic Therapy Provider 

  • Covering scheduled field events as agreed with ownership
    • Creating and implementing EAPs
    • Acute injury assessment and management 
    • Referral management to sports medicine physicians 
  • Travel with field clients as arranged and agreed upon in advance by clients and Ownership
  • Supply tracking and management 
  • Clinical clientele duties
    • Treating patients including manual therapy, exercise prescription and treatment follow up
    • Daily cleaning, charting, and any other tasks in the clinic
    • Educate individuals on the profession
